No WMDS - inspections were working!

Top News Article | Reuters.com

No WMD - we've heard that now from two inspectors appointed by Bush. The bottom line, that too many people are ignoring or skirting over - is inspections work. Saddam was contained. His military was a mere shadow of what it had been in 1990. His nuclear weapons capability - in terms of knowledgeable personnel - was steadily decaying. We had two-thirds of the country under a no-fly zone. Our invasion forces faced no WMDs and no air force, and, of course, no navy. As the Washington Post summed up this latest develpment:

So Bush was living in a fantasy world - Saddam's fantasy and his fantasy - and Bush wasted American lives, he wasted billions of American dollars, he tied up most of our military in innecessary war while allowing Osama bin Laden to escape and build an even stronger organization. What's more, he destroyed our credibility and honor in the eyes of much of the world. He has handcuffed us with his Quagmire in Iraq while allowing far more dangerous countries, such as Iran and Korea to build real nuclear weapons - real threats. How in the world anyone in their right mind can see this blundering fool as making us safer is beyond me.

Yes, Saddam wanted to harm us. He was thinking nasty thoughts. Yeah - him and how many others? Ask yourself - were Saddam's fantasies worth the life of a single American soldier?
