Edwards wins convincingly - maybe

CBS News | Uncommitteds Tab Edwards Winner | October 6, 2004 07:52:39

The polls are coming in and they are showing that Edwards won the debate. Of course, the Republicans will say this is because he is "slicker" and will make snide remarks about him being a lawyer - like no other politicians is a lawyer? What they mean is unlike a lot of the folks on the Hill, Edwards was a very successful lawyer - and he's a very successful debater. It helps, of course, to have the facts on your side and even the facts that Cheney made up could not carry the day for the Republicans.

Or maybe they did. An ABC poll shows Cheney the winner. Ah well, but what does that mean? Clearly the one person Cheney surely beat was Bush. No one who watched the two debates could help but see that Cheney was the man in command of the facts - at least, what his side calls facts. He was clear more in command than Bush. WHich reinforces the notion that Bush is just a puppet for Cheney. Or should we say, puppy?
