Huffington's Back and Carroll's On Target

Unelectable, My Ass!

Arianna Huffington's back with a sharp piece that argues the historical comparisons Dems should make between Dean and prior Democrat presidential candidates are not Dukakis and McGovern but RFK.

Then, see this one by James Carroll, which appeared in yesterday's Boston Globe and is here posted on Common Dreams, that argues the Dems have got to embrace the reality that George McGovern was right in 1972 on both the Viet Nam War and the Nixonian paranoia over the threat posed by the USSR. McGovern Was Right

Take together they might stiffen some spine, but still do not address how any Democrat is going to make inroads among the NASCAR dads.

Hmmmm. . .maybe Bush gave them the "in" - immigration. As Buchannan is complaining now - no one represents working America. Everyone from both parties is kisisng the fanny of big business. Interesting, isn't it. You kiss the tail of business in order to get money to convince the working stiffs to do what isn't good for them.

I don't mean that as a comment on immigration. I don't know enough about the subject. And my first instinct is Bush is moving in the right direction - and buying Hispanic votes. But it makes for an interesting discussion.
