Taliban Increase Control

It seems the present generation in Afghanistan may be lost to hopes of a brighter future. Surely the progress and planning described in this article will never lead to infrastructure repair, 21st century educational programs for both genders, diversification in economic development or the beginnings of democratically based political institutions. Yet the rejection of the presence of the US & coalition forces is understandable, given the way in which we turned away after the defeat of Russia. I can't even imagine what kind of resources, or for who long, would be required to wipe out the reforming TAliban....but I'm sure the US public would never endorse implementation of such a realistic plan. Should we walk away again, and leave them to heaven? Even the diminishing number of noble aid workers still on site in AFghanistan are increasingly at risk, and increasingly ineffectual in the face of the spreading chaos. Are there some challenges we simply cannot overcome?
