Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a
commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:
Send me email, Greg Stone Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory. Or send a single email to us both at once.

Johnston and Gallilee, RIToday's CT weather HYPE reminded me of Hurricane Carol in RI . . . Hi, I was watching the so-called meterological tv rpts. w/my mother this evening. . . I was nearly 4 years old, living in Johnston, RI, but with a boat at Jim Hartley's Dock (do you know it?) in Gallilee. We went with my father to the coast the day after. I remember ALL of it vividly - the trees uprooting in our yard - the odd smell/odor of the air . . . and my mother brought out the old Providence Journal booklets that your site shows. Coincidentally, when we moved to Hampton,CT well over 30 years ago, our next door neighbor, Bill Denny had retired here with his wife after he retired as editor of The Providence Journal. I asked lots of questions - have always loved storms ------ lots of mess, heartbreak and of course tragedy that others did NOT escape- I found it tremendously exciting and continue to follow "weather EVENTS" as they are now called! THANK YOU for your neat site - you must have been an unusual child! Debbie |
