Remembering Hurricane Carol:
Your views
Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:

Send me email, Greg Stone

Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory.

Or send a single email to us both at once.

Alan Raymond sent me an email telling me about your Hurricane Carol
website. Very interesting!!

I will have to look through some of our old photos at some point to
see if we have any additions for you. In the meantime, I can fill you in the
on the Loki Loki. (See this entry.)She was sloop of about 30 feet owned by my uncle and aunt,
George and Marion Tillinghast who lived in Rumford. Although it is not clear
in photo, my recollection is the one of the Yacht Club pilings had punctured
the boat. Apparently, the surge and waves carried the boat up high enough
such that it came down on the top of a piling which drove through the hull
and then up through the deck.

Thanks for the remembrances
