Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a
commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:
Send me email, Greg Stone Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory. Or send a single email to us both at once.

Pawtuckett, RIAs a six-year-old my most vivid memories of Carol are of trees being suddenly uprooted, and that constant unending howling. My home was in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It's relatively high ground compared to downtown Providence which was flooded as you know. There was a huge Oak tree just across the street. One moment it was upright and, in an instant, it was down-- it's roots sticking out from its bottom. There was an apple tree in our back yard. The next day the uprooted tree, full of leaves, became a slide. William Hess |
