Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a
commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:
Send me email, Greg Stone Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory. Or send a single email to us both at once.

On Aug 31st. I remember the wind blowing a big catalpa tree in the back yard, causing it to sway back and forth. It didn't fall over, but it did lean for the rest of the time I lived in that house. I remember after the worst was over my mother took me down town to view the damage around the area. Lots of limbs down, but relatively minor from what CT and RI suffered. In the 50's I was a high school student at a Christian Boarding School in Zellwood, FL. and I always took the train from Back Bay station to NY then down to Orlando. I remember riding the train a week or so later through CT, and seeing where the water level along the tracks had risen to during the 'cane. I was on my way back to FL for my Sophomore year in school. I'm nearly 66 now, but still remember the Hurricane Carol of '54. The year before I was born New England had a massive hurricane, the famous 'cane of '38. My dad worked all winter in the woods in NH clearing the hurricane debris. So I heard many stories of that one from local neighbors. Nice to view your web site, and keeping old memories alive.
