Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a
commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:
Send me email, Greg Stone Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory. Or send a single email to us both at once.

Stoneham, MAI was nine years old during Hurricane Carol. I dont remember a whole lot. I can remember sensing the fear in my parents. I can remember they had us standing in the cellar doorway, with one toy ..and our dog.. ready to head down to the cellar if the huge oak tree in front fell, but it didnt fall. We didnt have electricity, as well as everyone else. My Dad had a wind up victrola and was playing loud music so the electric company had music to listen to. The huge tree in our back yard fell. It had my rope swing and my sister's chain swing. Gone. But growing up 'in the woods' of Stoneham Massachusetts, the downed tree became our new 'toy' to climb on and have fun with. Nine months later, my baby brother, David, was born. Who knew then.!. Dianne Muse |
