Your view?
Did you witness Hurricane Carol in 1954? Tell me about it! And if you have a picture you're willing to share, that's all the better. I'd love to hear from you and I'll add what you have to say to our "Your View" pages. What's more, Charles Orloff is doing a
commemorative book on Carol for Blue Hill Observatory and would love to hear from you as well. So if you have something to share, please:
Send me email, Greg Stone Or send email to Charles Orloff at Blue Hill Observatory. Or send a single email to us both at once.

Noth Weymouth, MAI do remember Hurricane Carol. I was living in Noth Weymouth, MA, with my mother and father. I was 8 years old. I remember the howling winds blowing through the front door, the sound was errie, trees were bending over, shingles flying off roof tops. it was a haunting sound. I think it started around 10 am or 11 a.m My dad worked for R. H. Whites as a rug manager in deptment store. He had to go to Worchester that afternoon after Carol left to help in warehouse which had been flooded. We lost are electricity for three or four days. We cooked breakfast out on grill, as well as other meals. It was a storm I well remember. I will never forget the sounds - being a young boy I am sure I was scared. In the eveving my mom and I went outside to see the damage. You could smell the broken trees as they were lying everywhere. |
