Wanna bet?!!! Gambling and Black Lace too!

If you want to bet, go here:

::Ladbrokes.com::Big Bird Race:

And if you want to know what it's all about, go to this story in the Sydney morning paper, forwarded by Dom. A bird race? A big bird race? Is it for real?

You bet! And if you miss any of the action it's not my fault ;-) And speaking of action, how about "Black Lace?"

Daphne has put together some wonderful new pages covering a birding expedition Australian style - which means, I think, that the highlight isn't a bird but a lizard. Hey - they're related to birds, right? They came first, though. Or maybe I need a little biological help to get the facts straight? Well, I do lat least know it's called a "Black Lace Monitor." I read it on the web site.

In any event, enjoy it all here - a slideshow, some panoramas, and more. I crack up just reading all those wonderful Australian names, sich as: eucalypt, scribbly gums, casuarina and my two favorite landmarks: “Barren Joey” and “Dee Why.” Hey, there's even a wallaby!

Whew! I'm running out of explanation points. Time to go place my bet.
