Aha!

So that's why the forecast are different! This just in - Tuesday, 4 pm.

MIAMI - East Coast residents were given two more days to get ready for dreaded Hurricane Isabel under a new five-day forecast that took effect this summer - a system criticized by some as being unreliable.

The new forecast replaced the three-day prediction that the National Hurricane Center had used for years. The hurricane center said improved technology allows meteorologists to make extended forecasts that are as accurate as three-day predictions used to be.

Forecasters said they had initial concerns that the extended forecasts would not be specific enough, but they believe any advance information will be helpful. They say the new system has not changed how they work, since they had used similar models in previous years.
