A thousand words indeed . . .

Here's an extraordinary photo of Comet Holmes. Spaceweather.com describes this as "one of the strangest and most beautiful photos of a comet ... ever."

I sense in the editor's comment the feeling of desperation many of us who haveviewd Comet Holmes feel - we are experiencing and extraodinary event and yet most of the world is unaware of it. Few of the main media - The Standard-Times is an exception - have caught onto this and conveyed the excitement of it to their readers or viewer. We are deep into a culture of ignorance these days where more people are interested in what Britney does next rather than in the wonder and awe the natural universe inspires. Sad, but true.
