Patriots, the Universe, and us

On a local scale I'm getting my kick out of the New England Patriots these days. They are, IMHO, simply the best professional team of any sport I have seen in my life - and I've watched a lot. And I will still say that whether they win or lose another game - they have something special going.

And on another level I am getting deep, deep joy out of the moon, our star - the sun - Saturn, the Orion Nebulae, the great globular star city in hercules (M13) and the rest of the universe. I've got lots of new toys and I'm using them to look out as never before from my little retreat here in Westport. I'm mixing astronomy and meditation in a way that is personally very satisfying.

But every once in a while I get dragged kicking and screaming back into the fantasy world of human politics by a friend - in this case Dom - and I feel that old surge of bitter glee as someone rips Georgie Boy up one side and down the other. The story Dom just sent me was so satisfying in this way that I could not resist posting it - you'll find it here - Enjoy. (And thank you Dom - this was really delightful. Honest.)

Now I'm going to go restore harmony with a bout of mediation to be followed by an hour or so in the observatory. (Yes, I noticed the temperature was hovering around zero, but I just can't tell you how good it feels to step into these myriad stream of light energy pouring fromt he stars and interact with the rest of the universe and know that while the human race is fascinating in this little corner of reality, what you see when you look out is that it is not ALL about us.) Damn, i'm lucky!

Peace and joy to you all.
